Utopia

Interesting post, But hoping to invert those proportions, i.e., making the smarter guys the 80% is harder that having a society where everyone earns more money than they can spend... Pretty next to impossible...;-)

  1. You can apply the Pareto rule pretty much anywhere. Interestingly it can be applied recursively so that out of those 20% only 20% are really good and so on. It applies inversely too of course.

    I think Attwood makes a nice point. I suppose at the very center of his argument you can find the juxtaposition between development (programming as hackery) and engineering (programming as science). This is probably not what Attwood initially meant but it still gives you yet another frame of reference to ponder about it.
